Johnny, born in Hong Kong, moved to New Zealand with his family when he was twelve years old. After completing a Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management and a Bachelor Degree (Hons) in Events Management in Switzerland, Johnny returned to New Zealand to further his studies in Viticulture and Winemaking at Hawke’s Bay, the wine country of New Zealand.

Johnny won his first wine award when he was still a student; the Chardonnay that he made with his team won a Silver award and was a runner up in the wine competition. After working in some of the most renowned vineyards and wineries in New Zealand, Johnny decided to make wines in his own style from his own vineyard and winery.

The opportunity came when he met Bruce in Twilight’s Clevedon vineyard. Following Bruce’s decision to retire, Johnny is now responsible of the day-to-day operation and marketing of the Twilight Vineyards.


Johnny’s major roles at New Zealand Vineyards include selecting and sourcing the best quality wines from different regions, producing wine documentaries, and sharing his passion of wine with everybody he encounters.
